Fresh fish
Jan van As aims for products that are both sustainable and of excellent quality. To ensure this, different types of seafood are bought directly from various commercial fishing boats. Additionally, Jan van As buys fresh fish at all auctions in the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, and France. We import an extensive and exceptional range of international seafood species from around the world. As much as possible, we collaborate with suppliers that also care for and consider fish populations. Highlights are the line caught and sustainable fish from Iceland, the Azores, Seychelles, and Tahiti, like the Albacore Tuna. Versvishandel Jan van As buys fish directly from the Texel 36 and Stellendam 27. These vessels fish sustainably, using the "pulse swing" technique. We can also place special orders with these fishermen for you. Right after the fish is caught, your order will be hand-selected, stripped, and then kept on ice. The fish no longer needs to be sorted at the fish auction, which benefits the quality. All these fish are caught using sustainable methods and in the right season and are transferred directly from the ship, via Versvishandel Jan van As, to you. It can’t get any fresher than that.
TX36
The TX36 mainly catches flatfish, such as North Sea sole, turbot, brill, and ray. These are caught using the pulse trawling technique, which has considerably less impact on the seabed and less unwanted bycatch. The fuel consumption is reduced by up to 60%, compared to traditional fishing methods.
SL27
The SL27 mainly catches roundfish, like red tub gurnard, red mullet, sea bass, and mackerel. The fish is caught using the "fly shoot" technique.
